Hi, I'm Pi and I usually have trouble writing long posts. d: Nothing in here can be used against me. :D

hearts and monsters.

Earlier at the computer clubhouse:

Me: Gawa kayo Valentines card.
6yo kid: Ano yung Valentines?
Me: Araw ng mga puso kaya magdrawing ka ng puso.
6yo kid: Pwede aswang?

For those who do not understand Filipino, Chica bothered to translate:

Pierre - Let’s make Valentine’s cards
Student (6yo) - What is Valentine’s?
Pi - It’s the day of hearts so draw a lot of hearts.
Student - May I draw monsters?

HAHAHAHA. #epicfail

We brought them pizza and a Monopoly set today. They quickly/naturally picked up the game which only affirms that classics never really grow old. :D As for the pizza, what pizza? Three boxes - all gone before we knew it!

Kat opened the computer clubhouse again after the Christmas break. The kids are currently addicted to bookworm! It’s so funny cos they don’t know a lot of English words but the youngsters still insist on playing it. The words they invent are just hilarious! Hehe.

Surprisingly there were still a lot of kids who came today even if it was raining. We made them read Kat’s letter from Penang. More than reading, actually. They had to get the file from the flash drive save it on My Docs and then remove the thing safely.

Jon was also there so he was able to teach Jericho and JC set up the new computers. And then we tried to start decorating the Center, making garlands and do/draw it yourself balls. The kids who came were mostly boys so the designs were pretty simple! Haha. I miss the girls. (;

Sometimes, like the other volunteers I worry whether the kids actually learn anything coming in every Sunday. I succumb to the pressure of wanting ready modules and customized individual plans for the regulars. But again like the other teachers I know do not have the time to commit myself to help Kat on those things. ): Thus I am somehow comforted by the fact that the games installed in the computers are  not only fun but also educational. Here are a few samples of them. (:

After.

I told myself I was going to write about the kids but it’s already Friday and I haven’t got one word. So here I am trying. I went to see them again last week after three weeks of absence. Jolly almost did not recognize me. We tried making paper dolls so I can put their faces, remember their names and Kat can have something to help monitor attendance. It was just the two of us so it was a bit hard to execute what I had planned. We had to look after them while they work on the pc, keep them from fighting and crying and all that but I’ll try again this week. Wish me luck.

Mask making at the Center! Happy Halloween, everyone! (:

Photo apps with the kids! (:

Last Sunday we taught them how to change font color and to insert pictures. (:
